Authentic Japanese Samurai Swords

Since more than 400 years now, our forge has been making authentic katana or japanese swords. It was established in the Muromachi Period (A.D. 1338 - A.D. 1573) and is located in Seki City. This city has a long history of swordmaking and the swords that originate from here are highly valued. Today, only a few people know the craft of creating a shinken or japanese sword. And most of them still live in Seki City in Japan.

Your custom shinken

We can create your custom shinken. Together with you, we design your japanese sword. Realise that a shinken is a unique piece that is completely custom made. It is no industrial product, but an exclusive work of art created using the traditional methods. The price of a shinken ranges from 1,000,000 JPY to 2,400,000 JPY depending on your requests. We make an estimation of the costs and ask for your confirmation. Shipping to the US and Europe is free.

Because this is a custom sword, we ask our clients to arrange payments before we start on their shinken. It takes 6 to 12 months to finish the japanese sword. When you are interested, just email us and we will contact you.

Tamahagane

Shinken are always made of two different irons. For the inside of the sword, Shintetsu is used, a less hard iron. For the outside we use Hitetsu, a very hard iron containing Tamahagane. Tamahagane is very strong, but also rare and it can be very expensive as well. The different irons, hard outside and soft inside, make Japanese swords hard but unbreakable.
